How to Password Protect Files and Folders in Windows 11

When you set passwords on files or folders then no one easily opens your files. Windows 11 computer doesn’t have a feature to protect a folder with a password because the account is already protected with your profile credentials. With the help of 7-zip, Manage BitLocker, we can Password Protect Files and Folders. Using a password to protect a file or a folder makes it secure against unwanted access on computers. You can also set passwords on Word Excel excess and PowerPoint to be saved on your computers. So, In this article, I want to show you How to Password Protect Files and Folders in Windows 11.

Method 1. Password Protect Files and Folders in Windows 11 with 7-Zip

Step 1. Turn on your computer and then download 7-Zip from here.

Step 2. When 7-Zip is downloaded then right-click on Folder and click on Show more options.

Click on Show more options

Step 3. Click on 7-Zip and then click on Add to archive.

Click Add to archive

Step 4. From Compression, level selects the Store and then enable the Delete files after compression, and under the Encryption section type your password and last click on OK.

Click OK

Step 5. Now, Password Protect Files and Folders in Windows 11 is enabled.

Method 2. Password Protect Microsoft Office Documents in Windows 11

Step 1. Turn on your windows 11 computer and then open the Office document.

Step 2. When it is open then click on the File.

Click on File

Step 3. Go to the Info tab and click on Protect Document and then click on Encrypt with Password.

Step 4. Now, type the password and click on OK.

Click OK

Step 5. When you open the Office document, you will have to enter the password.

Method 3. Password Protect Drives in Windows 11 with BitLocker Encryption

Step 1. Turn on the windows 11 computer and then open the Start menu and search Manage BitLocker and open it.

Step 2. When Manage BitLocker is open then click on Turn on BitLocker.

Click Turn on BitLocker

Step 3. Select Save to your Microsoft account and then click on Next.

Step 4. Restart your computer, and Windows 11 will start encrypting the C drive

Method 4. Password Protect Files and Folders From Other Users on the Same PC

Step 1. Right-click on any file or folder and click on Show more options.

Step 2. Now, click on the Properties option.

Step 3. Click on the Advanced option.

Click Advanced

Step 4. Enable the Encrypt contents to secure the data checkbox and click on OK.

Click OK
